Experience (Experience): I am a senior research scientist (DR2) at the CNRS, which I joined as a permanent researcher at LIMSI in October 1991. I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in May 1988 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Thesis title: Formalizing Knowledge used in Spectrogram Reading: Acoustic and perceptual evidence from stops). My S.B. and S.M. degrees are also in EECS from MIT, and the research for her S.M. thesis was conducted as a co-op student at AT\&T Bell Laboratories (Subject: Endpoint detection for isolated word recognition)
I obtained my 'Habilitation a diriger des Recherches' (Document title: Traitment de la parole (Spoken Language Processing ) in January 2004.

My current activities include research in speaker-independent, large vocabulary continuous speech recognition; studies in acoustic-phonetics; lexical and phonological modeling; design, analysis, and realization of large speech corpora (TIMIT, BREF, TED) ; speaker and language identification. I have been actively involved in the European projects: Sqale, Relator, SpeechDat, EuroCocosda, Babel, Mask, RailTel, Arise, Home-AOM, Olive, Disc/Disc2, Alert, Amities, Ciwos, Coretex, Echo and Darpa EARS. Some more recent projects are Chil, TCStar, and the Rex Humaine. Ongoing projects include Darpa GALE/Agile, FP6 Vital, and OSEO Quaero.

I am a member of the Speech Communication Editorial board, and of the Permanent Council of the ICSLP, the Interspeech Advisory Council and the Conseil d'Administration of the Association Francaise de la Communication Parlee. I was a member of the IEEE Speech Technical Committee (94-98), and have served on the scientific committees of workshops for ACL, EACL, ESCA ETRWs, JEP, LREC, RANLP, Sigir workshops, Interspeech.
